LAW COSTS DRAFTSMAN
We wish to appoint an experienced law costs draftsman to work in our Public Law and Community Care department.
The successful candidate will work closely with the caseworkers in the team as well as with the firms accounts department. Duties will include
- Preparation of inter partes and legal aid bills for court assessment
- Points of reply and costs negotiation
- Court assessments
- Legal Aid certificated billing
- CCMS operation, including POA, outcomes reporting and billing
- Claim 1 and Claim 2
- Supervision of Legal Help billing
- Proactive case progression
- High Cost Case planning and billing
We hold one of the largest Legal Aid contracts in the country for our Judicial Review work. We conduct a substantial volume of JR claims in the High Court, and higher courts, which are mainly funded through Legal Aid. We also have a significant track record of successful outcomes for our clients.
The successful candidate will be familiar with all aspects of Civil Legal Aid funding and will be expected to handle all aspects of file costing from initial Legal Help through to detailed assessment, and costs recovery from opponents or the LAA.
We are currently recruiting for paralegal positions in the PUBLIC LAW and COMMUNITY CARE Department at our Nottingham office.
This team enjoys a national reputation for its work in JUDICIAL REVIEW CHALLENGES against Local Authorities, Government Departments and other public bodies.
Recent high profile successful cases include the BREXIT case in the Supreme Court, and the DRIPA decision of the European Court of Justice.
We have the largest Legal Aid contract in the country for this type of work, and pursue cases nationwide.
We have an established programme of progression from paralegal position to a training contract.
