Case dropped for client who defended himself against knife attack
A client who was arrested after assaulting a knife-wielding man will face no further action.
Our client was a businessman who had never been in trouble with the law before. He was driving his car which was involved in a minor road traffic collision with another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle got out and threatened our client with a knife. In order to defend himself, our client punched the knife-wielding man and ran back towards his car where his daughter phoned the police. Our client suffered cuts to the face.
The police arrived and arrested both men on suspicion of a public order offence. Our client was taken into police custody after receiving hospital treatment for his injuries.
Throughout his time at the police station, our client was represented by Amrik Singh of our Nottingham office. Amrik is a trainee solicitor and a fully accredited police station representative.
Following the police interview, Amrik made a number of representations to the police which resulted in the decision to take no further action against our client.
Our lawyers are on call 24/7 to provide advice and representation at the police station. Legal Aid is available to anyone detained by the police. If you are arrested by the police or asked to attend an interview as a volunteer, always contact Bhatia Best.
